ALBANY, N.Y. — A ‘Frozen’ sing-a-long happened at Albany Medical Center and has more than 80,000 shares on Facebook.
Kamryn Slater, 7 of Hannacroix is in week ten of chemotherapy. When she was admitted to Albany Med for a blood transfusion last week, she found a friend in her patient care associate, Tom Shelley, who is also a ‘Frozen’ fan – and they became fast friends.
“It’s been really great getting to come in and get to know the family, and her and we’ve had so many funny moments,” Shelley said. “I can’t even go through them all.”
Zachary Slater, Kamryn’s dad, says she is going home, but that she still needs to return to Albany Med for another 15 weeks of chemo for a Wilms’ tumor – a kidney cancer.
She only met Shelley because she needed a blood transfusion, and then returned this week because of fever — giving the two another chance to sing.
Kamryn was diagnosed in April. Doctor’s couldn’t complete a surgery because a tumor ruptured.
That’s when the chemotherapy began.
