ALBANY, N.Y. – Thousands are expected at the Empire State Plaza Friday night for the annual fireworks display.
People have already begun to show up for the food, the music, and the games that precede the fireworks that kick off at 9 p.m. Many arrived early Friday morning, and for some it’s a family tradition to secure a good spot. They bring chairs, blankets, and, of course, sport red, white and blue.
“It’s good to watch the fireworks; it’s nice to be right underneath them. They’re loud, they’re spectacular, and so it’s a good time. Plus the food, people watching, hanging out,” said David Ditucci of East Greenbush.
“My family and I have been doing it for years, since I was a little kid. And then they’ve stopped coming because they’re getting older but David and I enjoy coming together and hanging out for the day,” said Amy Ditucci.
