SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Over 20,000 people are expected to pour into Saratoga Performing Arts Center Thursday for the beginning of a three-day Phish concert.
Practically every hotel and motel is booked in the area; with some saying they had reservations since February.
Local law enforcement was also preparing early. Saratoga Springs Police Department has coordinated with other agencies since the beginning of the year in anticipation of the concert.
“When you have 20, thousand people coming to a venue, the odds are good that unfortunately something like that may happen. And we prepare ourselves, like I said; we all work together quite well,” said Lt. Bob Jillion.
Marcia White, SPAC’s President, says the venue isn’t an amateur when it comes to concert blow outs, saying that a sold out night means 25,000 in attendance.
But everyone is also keeping an eye on the skis in case of rain.
“If a storm is about to get to us, we can either let our audience know stay in your car until it starts to pass or we’ll bring everybody in the amphitheater,” said White.
Lacy Boughn came all the way from Los Angeles to Saratoga for the concert – her 180th show to be exact.
