SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – A Skidmore College campus security guard faces several charges after he allegedly took advantage of an unconscious woman.

A call was made Wednesday at about 3:15 p.m. for medical assistance for a 26-year-old female that was highly intoxicated at a residence on Lincoln Avenue.

The caller was Robert Gardner, 62, of Saratoga Springs and he was on the scene when crews arrived.

When they arrived, officers located the female on the back porch of the house. She was not alert, and Saratoga Springs Fire Department arrived and transported her to Saratoga Hospital.

During an on scene investigation, officers found Gardner’s initial account of what had taken place, compared to what they had observed, did not seem to match up.

After an investigation, officers alleged that Gardner, while the victim was unconscious and physically helpless, had sexual contact with the victim. They say he took numerous pictures of the victim with his personal cellphone. The acts took place only about 15 minutes prior to him calling in the medical assist call, according to police.

Gardner was arraigned in Saratoga Spring City Court on felony charges of sexual abuse while physically helpless and unlawful surveillance, and was released on his own recognizance.
