Petition launched to ban plastic check-out bags in Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Sustainable Saratoga launched a petition encouraging Saratoga Springs residents and businesses to support its campaign to ban plastic check-out bags at area stores.

The BYOBag (Bring Your Own Bag) initiative will present the signed petition to the City Council this fall, with the support of Saratoga Springs Mayor Joanne Yepsen.

BYOBag volunteers plan to canvas businesses and neighborhoods this summer in search of signatures.

“If you care about our environment and our beautiful town, please sign our petition to ban plastic check-out bags in Saratoga Springs. We would love to make Saratoga a model city where waste reduction and recycling are common practice,” said Margie Shepard, BYOBag co-chair.

The petition is also available to sign online at sustainablesaratoga.org/bagban.
