Cops: Teen shoots younger brother with stolen gun

ALBION, N.Y. (AP) – Authorities say a western New York teenager has been charged after he accidentally shot his 9-year-old brother in the arm with a stolen handgun.

Police in the rural Orleans County village of Albion tell local media that the 13-year-old old had stolen the gun from a relative and was handling the weapon late Thursday night when it discharged inside the boys’ home.

The bullet hit the younger boy in the arm. Police say he’s expected to recover.

Police say their investigation revealed the 13-year-old had stolen a second gun from the same relative.

The teen has been charged with felony counts of reckless endangerment, grand larceny and criminal possession of a weapon.
