Three arrested after failed alleged robbery attempt

ALBANY, N.Y. – Three men were arrested and charged in connection to an assault that occurred on State Street.

Albany police officers responded to the 200 block of State Street around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim on the sidewalk with several injuries to his legs.

The victim is a 32-year-old male from Queensbury. He said he met a woman through an online advertising service called Backpage. He said the female invited him to an apartment on State Street.

The victim stated that once inside the apartment, he learned the female he met online was actually a male. The victim attempted to leave the apartment, but the male and two other suspects intentionally blocked the victim from leaving and attempted to steal money from him.

The victim said he then retreated to a second floor window and tried to escape. While near the window, two of the suspects intentionally shoved the victim, and he fell 21 feet to the ground.

The victim sustained several injuries to his legs and ankles. He was treated at the scene by medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center for further evaluation.

All three suspects were arrested following an investigation.

Torrence Wilson, 22, of St. Louis, was charged with Assault in the Second Degree, Attempted Robbery in the Second Degree and Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree.

Shawndale Alexander, 23, of Charlotte, N.C., was charged with Attempted Robbery in the Second Degree and Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree.

Dajuanta Alexander, 24, or Albany, was charged with Assault in the Second Degree, Attempted Robbery in the Second Degree and Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree.

All three men were arraigned in the Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
