TROY, N.Y.—The Rensselaer County Honor-a-Deceased Veteran Committee recognized the late Charles C. Pratt, Jr., on Monday, May 12.
Charles retired from the United States Air Force with 23 years’ honorable service spanning the Korean and Vietnam War Eras.
He attended Troy Public School prior to enlisting for service in the spring of 1949. . During this time, he was authorized to receive the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the Army Good Conduct Medal with three Bronze Loops, the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with two Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, and, the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.
After five years into his military career, Charles marries Patricia Harriet Johnson while stationed in Illinois. He also had seven children, daughters, Denise, Lori, Robin, Kelly, and, Carol, and, sons, Charles and David.
“The freedoms we hold so dear as American have been secured by the men and women of our armed forces who have sacrificed for us all. We are truly fortunate that Charles Pratt and so many others answered the call to arms ensuring that our way of life is preserved,” said Rensselaer County Executive Kathleen M. Jimino.
