ALBANY, N.Y. – A 45-year-old Albany man was found guilty of strangulation and selling cocaine in court Friday.

Ernest Muller was found guilty of one felony count of strangulation, one count of felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 2nd-Degree, and one felony count of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd-Degree.

On July 6, 2013, police responded to a call to assist a female victim who reported an assault in the City of Watervliet. An investigation uncovered that the victim was strangled by a person known to her.

The jury determined that Muller intentionally strangled the victim, impeding her normal breathing and causing her to lose consciousness. Additionally, the jury also found that he possessed and sold a quantity of cocaine.

Muller was remanded in to custody after the verdict, and faces up to 12 years in state prison when sentenced on July 17, 2014.
