BETHLEHEM, N.Y. – At least one community says it does not want a taste of Vegas in its backyard — or anywhere close by.
The Bethlehem Town Board passed a resolution Wednesday night in opposition to the planned E23 casino.
The facility would be located off Exit 23 of the Thruway in Albany, but would sit against the city’s border with Bethlehem.
Board members voiced concern over a casino bringing in too much traffic and potential crime to the town.
They also voted against casinos in the Capital Region as a whole, saying towns should take a closer look at the possible negatives.
