DUANESBURG, N.Y. — Duanesburg along Route 20 was one of the areas hardest hit during Thursday’s severe weather.
A home in the area was destroyed, with debris scattered across the front lawn and the street.
The son of the homeowner, Jeff Bivins, says he couldn’t believe what he saw. His mother’s home is one of the few houses along Route 20, and by the looks of it, the only one destroyed by Thursday’s tornado.
He said he couldn’t sleep last night; instead he kept a lookout making sure his mother’s property was secured.
On Friday he gave NEWS10 ABC a tour of the damage, saying his mother is lucky to be alive.
Volunteers in the community turned out to help clean up, and now it’s just a matter of the insurance company coming out to calculate the damage and how it’s going to be paid for.
