ALBANY, N.Y. – Outcry from residents near the Port of Albany has caused the Department of Environmental Conservation to extend the public comment period on plans to bring an oil heating facility to the Port.

Global Partners handles crude oil shipped by train from North Dakota, making Albany a key hub for western crude heading for East Coast refineries. The company wants to add heating facilities at the Port, a desire which has been met with public outcry.

The public comment period has been expanded to August 1st.
