Crude oil train derails in Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. – A crude oil train hit a small crew shack and derailed at the Kenwood Railyard Tuesday.

A Canadian Pacific Railroad tank car carrying crude oil was pushed through a bumping block Tuesday and hit a small crew shack. One of the tank car’s wheels came off the track, but the car remained upright.

There was no leakage of oil and there were no reported injuries. As required by state regulations, Canadian Pacific made notification to the New York State Department of Transportation within one hour of the accident.

NYSDOT said the derailed car was part of a 40-car train plus one locomotive that was being maneuvered at low speeds.
