ALBANY N.Y. – According to the STOP DWI Association, nearly one-third of alcohol-related teen traffic deaths happen in April, May, and June, prom season.

Albany County Sheriff’s Office and other police agencies are bringing awareness to students and schools about the consequences of drinking and driving.

Police have organized graphic DWI crash demonstrations to give a realistic experience about what can happen from one bad choice, leading students to think twice about their actions.

Officials are encouraging parents to get involved and talk with their teenagers about the serious dangers of underage drinking, and to set ground rules before their children leave the house for events like prom.
