Man dies in logging accident

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. – A local business owner died after a logging accident at a private residence in Queensbury Wednesday.

Keven Bullard, of Lake Luzerne, was the owner of Bullard Contracting. He and a coworker were cutting down a birch tree in the front yard of a residence on North Church Lane.

Bullard ascended the 50 foot tree before cutting a six foot section. As that section of the tree was being lowered, the entire tree fell to the ground. The 41-year-old held on to the tree as it fell and landed on a blacktop area of a driveway.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office responded just after 1 p.m., and Bullard was taken to Glens Falls Hospital before being transferred to Albany Medical Center. Bullard was later pronounced dead.

An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be massive internal injuries due to blunt force trauma.

The preliminary investigation into the accident revealed the tree had insufficient root structure to support the added and redistributed weight at the top of the tree.
