3 men arrested following Albany handgun incident

ALBANY, N.Y. — Three men are
in custody for possession of a handgun following an incident on Walter Street.

On Wednesday April 16, at about
9:00 p.m., officers responded to the area of North Second Street and Walter
Street for a report of group with a handgun. When they arrived, Quintril
Clark, 23, of Albany, was observed walking nearby and was stopped as part of
the investigation.

A vehicle associated with
Clark was located a short distance away and was occupied by two other suspects. During
the course of the investigation, a loaded .45 caliber handgun was recovered
from inside the vehicle.

The recovered handgun was
reported stolen to the Greene County Sheriff's Office in Virginia in May of
2009.    

The occupants, Dezmon
Smith, 21, and Christopher Duke, 25, both of Troy, were taken into custody
without incident.

Smith was also found to be in
possession of 7.1 grams of cocaine.

Smith was charged with
Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal
Possession of Stolen Property, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance,
and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Dukes was charged with Criminal
Possession of a Weapon and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.

Clark was charged with
Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and Criminal
Possession of Stolen Property.

All three men were arraigned
in the Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
