RAVENA, N.Y. – Workers at the LaFarge Cement Plan announced
Friday morning they will be rebuilding the facility.
LaFarge employs more than 100 people in the Ravena area, but
it has had environmental problems in the past. LaFarge President and CEO John
Stull said the company is committed to the renovation project.
“We're investing millions of dollars in this plant because
we're committed to the U.S. market and competing in an environmentally responsible
way,” he said. “In fact, the equipment is on order and as I mentioned, you'll
soon be seeing construction.”
The building of a new cement plant will cost $150 million
and create more than 100 jobs. The project should be completed in 2016.
