WHITE CREEK, N.Y. – Early Saturday morning, State Police say
they have arrested a man for an assault charge.

Troopers responded to a home on County Route 68 in the Town
of White Creek for a report of two men fighting. One adult male and one adult
female were taken to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for
injuries.

State Police say the male suffered minor
injuries and the female has been treated and released.

An investigation led to the arrest of Florian
Mayer, 48, who is the resident of the White Creek home where the incident took
place. Mayer allegedly attacked the male victim and the female victim was able
to escape the scene, according to authorities.

Alcohol does appear to be a factor in the
incident, say State Police.

Mayer was arrested and charged for one
count of Assault in the third degree and one count of Making a False Written
Statement. State Police said the second charge was a result of a deposition he
provided at the scene which was determined to be inconsistent with the facts of
the case.

Mayer was released on an appearance
ticket for the Town of White Creek court.
