Brooklyn man arrested on identity theft charges

ALBANY, N.Y.—A Brooklyn
man was arrested on Thursday on identity theft charges.

Saihing Chan, 20, was arrested after an investigation
that determined Chan was involved in using counterfeit credit cards on multiple

Chan allegedly used these credit cards for the purchase of
merchandise, gift cards, and expensive perfumes.

On March 27, Chan was arrested and arraigned on six felony
counts of Identity Theft in the first degree, two felony counts of Criminal
Possession of Forged Instrument in the second degree, felony Grand Larceny in
the third degree, felony Scheme to defraud in the first degree, as well as a
felony count of Identity Theft in the second degree. 

Chan was sent to the Albany County Correctional Facility
without bail and is scheduled in court on April 1 for a preliminary hearing.
