SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Proctors will be celebrating its founder's birthday on Saturday.
F.F. Proctor was born on March 17, 1851 and was a vaudeville impresario. On Saturday, the Proctors History Committee will be celebrating the founder's birthday with a guided tour and organ concert.
Proctors opened on State Street in Schenectady in 1926, which still brings Broadway, dance, movies, and music to the Capital Region.
In the 1970s Proctors was almost torn down, but was saved by the Arts Center and Theatre of Schenectady, Inc., allowing it to reopen.
No reservations are necessary and there is no charge for Saturday's event. Those interested in this event will meet tour guides at the Mainstage theatre entrance at 10 a.m.
