ALBANY, N.Y. – Hundreds of protestors stationed themselves
in front of the governor's office Thursday over a deep concern over the state
The protestors represented dozens of different progressive groups
from across New York forming a progressive coalition expressing concern that
the governor's budget benefits the wealthy at the expense of the middle class.
The protestors lined the stairway and blocked the entrance to
the office. They called for more education money, passing the Dream Act and the
Women's Equality Agenda, and reducing income inequality.
State Police moved in and arrested dozens of the protestors
when they sat directly in front of the doors. A total of 59 protestors were
arrested. The surrounding protestors cheered as they were escorted down the hallway,
outside and loaded into waiting vans.
