CLIFTON PARK, NY – State Police from Troop G, Zone 2, conducted an underage drinking initiative today as part of St. Patrick's Day enforcement. The detail targeted the sale of alcohol to minors and utilized a team consisting of State Police members.
The State Police were assisted by the Waterford Police Department. Underage undercover operatives were utilized with the team visiting and attempting to purchase alcoholic beverages at various establishments in Southern Saratoga County. Thirty three establishments were visited which included convenience, grocery and liquor stores.
New York State Police Captain John W. McCarthy reiterated the State Police commitment to the effort to curb the sale of alcohol to minors. “We will continue to use our personnel and resources to do all we can to prevent underage drinking. We are trying to combat traffic-related and other tragedies that may result from underage consumption of alcohol. We are disappointed that we were able to make two arrests in this latest effort. Our goal is 100% compliance with state law regarding sale of alcohol to minors, obviating the need for such arrests.”
This weekend's operation resulted in the following arrests:
NICHOLAS M. PIPINO – Clifton Park, NY
Establishment – Halfmoon ExtraMart – Mobil 1588 Route 9, Halfmoon
WARREN L. THOMPSON – Clifton Park, NY
Establishment – Cobble Pond Farms Gulf 1529 Crescent Road, Clifton Park
The subjects were arrested for Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the 1st Degree and were scheduled a court appearance on Thursday at 7 p.m.
