COLONIE, N.Y. – On Saturday, mothers in the Capital Region
came together to support blood cancer patients.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Upstate New York and
Vermont Chapters Moms in Training Inaugural season was held at 9 a.m. at The
Crossings in Colonie.
The program is designed to engage mothers in the fight
against blood cancer through an 8 week training program which is also
kid-friendly. Mothers train to run a 5k or 15k with the help of certified
coaches. While they train, money is
raised for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The lead volunteer, Kristi Miller, ran her first 15k since
the birth of her son. She had the goal of raising $500 through the program.
