GLENVILLE, N.Y. – A Glenville Police Dispatcher helped a new
father deliver a healthy baby boy on Friday.
According to Glenville Police, on Friday around 1:22 a.m.,
dispatch received a 911 call from an expectant father who stated his girlfriend
needed medical assistance with her pregnancy.
Dispatcher Donald Gerding used his training to talk the new
father through the full delivery of the baby. Authorities say the man was
assisted by a neighbor as well.
The mother delivered the healthy baby boy before the
ambulance arrived to the home. The newborn and his mother were taken to Albany
Medical Center. Police say they are both in great condition.
Dispatched Joanne Weaver assisted Gerding during the process
to ensure the ambulance and East Glenville Fire Department were dispatched to
Weaver has also assisted with a delivery earlier this year.
Glenville Police say there is no other information to be
released at this time.
