SLINGERLANDS, N.Y. – A benefit dinner is being held for a Slingerlands family who lost everything in a devastating fire at their home Sunday.

Everyone made it out alive, but the family lost everything, including the baby shower gifts for expecting mother Aimee Kleinke. Kleinke's son is at Westchester Medical Center being treated for burns.

Homeowner Bonnie Kleinke said she realizes her family is very lucky, and she is grateful everyone made it out alive. Kleinke, her boyfriend, her son, TJ, and his two daughters were all home at the time the fire started. They ran out of the home with just the clothes on their backs.

She said she has received an outpouring of support and generosity from members of their community. She said it's the community's spirit of giving that is keeping her spirits up.

The dinner is on Sunday March 23 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Nathaniel Adams Blanchard American Legion Post 1040. It is $10 per dinner and other donations are welcome.
