ALBANY, N.Y. – A 41-year-old Albany man convicted of killing his wife has been sentenced to prison time.
Robert Williams was sentenced to 25 years to life in state prison in Albany County Supreme Court.
He was found guilty of one felony count of Murder after a jury trial in January.
Authorities say Williams intentionally caused the death of his estranged wife Sharene Wallace while in her residence on Sherman Street in the City of Albany, by stabbing her with a knife. The victim was found deceased in her bedroom closet in May 2013.
At the time of the crime, Williams was under the supervision of the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (Parole) and is a level 2 registered sex offender. Additionally, Williams was wanted for a Parole violation.
On February 28, 2014, Williams was arrested for Promoting Prison Contraband and Criminal Possession of a Weapon, both felonies.
