Man leaves child in car while shoplifting

BRUNSWICK, N.Y. – State Police arrested a Troy man for
shoplifting while he left a baby in a car.

Edwin Crespo was arrested Friday and charged with two counts
of Petit Larcey and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The 31-year-old was caught stealing $202.49 worth of baby
formula from the Brunswick Price Chopper. Further review of security footage by
security personnel determined Crespo also stole $164.84 worth of baby formula the
day before.

The trooper on scene found that Crespo left a five-year-old
child in his vehicle unattended. The vehicle was running, and the doors were
unlocked.

Crespo was arraigned in Brunswick Town Court and remanded to
the Rensselaer County Jail on $1,000 cash or $5,000 bond.
