Stillwater Police conduct one of their largest drug busts

STILLWATER, N.Y. – Stillwater Police have announced the
arrests of three people after an investigation into the sale of heroin in the
Stillwater area.

According to authorities, search warrants and arrest
warrants were executed during the early morning hours on Friday at two separate
locations in the Saratoga Hills Mobile Home Park on County Route 76.

Stillwater Police say two people were taken into custody at
8 Birch Lane. Police say heroin, a large amount of money, and a weapon were
found at the residence. A third person was located and taken into custody
without incident by State Police in Johnsonville.

Basil Smith, 55, Brenda Smith, 59, and Michael Wescott, 38,
were processed and arraigned in Stillwater Town Court. All three were then
taken to Saratoga County jail without bail.

Basil Smith of 8 Birch Lane has been
charged with four counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd
, three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd,
and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th .

Brenda Smith of 8 Birch Lane has been charged with two
counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd, two counts of
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd, and two counts of
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th.

Wescott of 103 Elm Lane is charged
with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd and
one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th.

Stillwater Police say the
investigation and resulting arrests led to 13 Class B Felony Charges and is one
of the largest drug cases handled by the department.

The Stillwater
Police Department was assisted by the Saratoga County
Sheriff's Narcotics Unit, the New York State Police CNET Capital and SORT units
and Saratoga County Probation.
