BRUNSWICK, N.Y. – New York State Police say they have
arrested two men in connection to a number of area thefts of copper wire, chain
saws, and other tools.
Authorities say they have arrested Ronald Morelli Jr., 33 of
Stillwater and Justin Furgason, 33 of Ballston Spa. Both men have been charged
with Grand Larceny in the fourth degree.
According to State Police in Brunswick, the
charges stem from a spree of thefts which took place over the past month in
which they stole copper wire and tools from numerous area Tractor Supply stores
and other locations in the Capital District as well as Bennington, VT.
Police say at least nine area tractor supply stores were
victimized which includes stores in Brunswick, Saratoga, Greenwich, Clifton
Park, Schodack, Queensbury, Amsterdam, Scotia and Bennington. According to authorities,
the Sears Stores in Wilton and Queensbury were also victimized.
The men were arraigned in the Town of Brunswick Court. Other
charges will be filed by Police Agencies in the other areas. Morelli and
Furgason were remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and the State Police
Special Investigations Unit assisted in these arrests.
