Vermont man charged after crashing car

SHAFTSBURY, VT – On Friday morning, at approximately 1:40 a.m., Vermont State Police
responded to a reported motor vehicle complaint on Twitchell Hill Road in
Shaftsbury. Upon arrival Troopers discovered a vehicle that has crashed into a
telephone pole guide wire with no operator or passengers on scene.

Troopers were attempting to locate any subjects involved, the operator
identified as Robert Gerity, returned to the vehicle and attempted to drive the vehicle away.

Gerity and the vehicle were discovered in the
front yard of 639 Horton Hill Road. Gerity was administered field sobriety
exercises which indicated he was under the influence of intoxicants.

He was taken into custody and processed for DUI. Gerity is to appear in court on Feb. 24 to answer to the charges of DUI and Leaving the Scene of an
Accident (LSA).
