Police: Teen arrested for assault at Brookwood Secure Center

CLAVERACK, N.Y. — A 17-year-old has
been arrested and charged with assault after State Police say he struck a Brookwood
Secure Center employee in the head.

On January 16, 2014, State Police from
the Livingston Barracks arrested Joshua Slingerland, of Brookwood Secure
Center, for third-degree Assault.
 
State Police were dispatched to the Brookwood Secure
Center to investigate an incident which occurred on January 15.  A
Brookwood staff member reported to police that he was struck in the head
several times by Slingerland, causing injury.
 
Slingerland was arraigned before the Town of Claverack
Court and remanded to Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. He
is scheduled to reappear in Claverack Court on February 18, 2014.
