Troy man sentenced for assault of police officer

ALBANY, N.Y. — A Troy man was sentenced to one to three years in State Prison on Thursday.

On November 4, 2013, John Rodriguez, 25, of Troy, pleaded guilty to one count of attempted assault in the second degree, a felony. 

According to officials, Rodriguez prevented a uniformed Albany police officer from effecting the arrest of Ziggy Taylor, 24, by jumping on the officer's back and causing him to suffer a partially torn rotator cuff, lower back strain and hamstring strain on September 7, 2013.

The case against Ziggy Taylor remains open.
