DURHAM, N.Y. – State Police have arrested a 13-year-old student after they say he made threatening comments.

On January 9, 2014, the New York State Police at Catskill and the Town of Durham Police Department responded to the Cairo-Durham High School for a report of a bomb threat at the school. According to police, a student made comments in a study hall in the presence of other students and school staff.

As a result, State Police arrested the teen for Juvenile Delinquency. If committed by an adult, the charge would have been Falsely Reporting an Incident in the first-degree.  The juvenile was released to his parents and is scheduled to appear in Greene County Family Court at a later date.

A sweep was conducted at the school by State Police Explosive Detection K-9's which proved negative for any explosive devices. All students and staff were moved to the Middle School during the sweep, and no school activities were cancelled.
