Firefighters respond to blaze in Hoosick Falls

HOOSICK FALLS, NY – Firefighters responded to Farrara's Pub
& Grill on Classic Street last night to battle a blaze that started in the
rear of the building.

The call came in just after 11 p.m. and crews worked all
night, returning to the station at 7 this morning.

Patrons were inside the building when the fire broke out,
but no one was injured.

“It was a very stubborn blaze,” Assistant Fire Chief Paul J.
Davendonis said. “Pumps, hoses, everything kept freezing up.”

He added that 11 nearby agencies assisted, and that the fire
started between the basement and first floor. It eventually climbed up to the
roof.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and it is not
considered suspicious.

Davendonis said damage was limited to the rear of the building,
and will likely be repaired.
