Snow storm comes to Capital Region

LATHAM, N.Y. – Snow plows were visible on the roadways
starting Wednesday night as a snow storm made its way to the Capital Region.

Light snow began to fall Wednesday night, and crews started plowing
roads around 9 p.m.

Workers and plow drivers with the Department of
Transportation rotated shifts all night into early Thursday morning. They were
at the Latham Yard to load their plows with salt from the salt barn.

The salt barn holds 1,500 tons of salt for crews to spread
along the roads.

The snow is expected to continue falling until Friday
morning. Snow fall predictions call for 10 to 15 inches of snow overall in the
Capital Region.

Many communities have issued snow emergencies pending the
snow storm, and many school districts were closed Thursday.
