NYS and insurance company allows parents to stop teen’s texting while driving

ALBANY, N.Y. – There is a new way for some parents to curb their teen's texting while driving.

A state program with insurance company “E-Surance” allows parents to install a device in their cars which limits what a cell phone can do while the car is in motion.

When used with an app, the phone is limited in the use of text, e-mail and phone calls while driving, with the exception of 911.

The device can also monitor driving behavior, including speeding or hard braking.
