ALBANY, N.Y. – The opening of the Empire State Plaza ice rink has been postponed until December 8.
According to the Office of General Services which operates the rink, unfavorable weather conditions have made it difficult for crews to prepare the rink for use.
The ice rink will be open from 3-8 p.m. on Sunday, December 8 during the Tree Lighting Festival. Free skate rentals will be offered by Hannaford Supermarkets.
The rink will close again from December 9-12 for crews to continue improving the condition of the ice.
If the ice is in good condition, the rink will open permanently on Friday, December 13 at 11 a.m. for the 1st Hannaford Free Skate Rental Friday and Holiday Rock & Skate with the Back40 Band.
