Couple accused of hiding drugs on infant

SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT – On December 5,  the Vermont State
Police began a collaborative investigation with the Department of Corrections
at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility, located in South Burlington, as
information was received that narcotics were suspected to be brought into the
facility by means of an infant during a scheduled visitation with a female
inmate. 

Today the child arrived for the scheduled visit, and a search
warrant was executed and narcotics were found on the child. The child was
immediately placed into State's custody as a Child In Need of Care and
Supervision and was evaluated by the facility's medical
personnel. 

The male who transported the child to the facility with the
narcotics was identified as David Willette, 27, of Bennington. 

Willette was taken into custody and lodged on a Violation of Probation charge
and he was cited for Transportation of Alcohol, Tobacco, or Regulated Drugs
into places of detention, Reckless Endangerment of a child, Possession of
Narcotics and Conspiracy. 

Julea Larsen, 35, an inmate at the
facility, was cited for Conspiracy. Both Willette and Larsen are
scheduled to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court, Criminal Division on
January 30th, 2014.
