Albany Police seek public’s help in burglary investigation

ALBANY,
N.Y. – Albany Police are currently investigating a homicide that occurred on
Western Avenue December 4.

Officers responded to a report of a broken window around 3:15 p.m.
at 326 Western Avenue. Upon arrival, officers determined a burglary had
occurred because the door appeared to be tampered with.

After officers then located a male tenant deceased inside a
downstairs apartment.

The 27-year-old victim died as a result of injuries sustained
during what appears to have been a physical altercation.

The
neighbor of the deceased man who called 911 to report the burglary told NEWS10
ABC he was in a rehab program.

Police
arrested 41-year-old Oscar Valcarel of Albany as a result of the burglary
investigation. He was charged with Burglary in the Second Degree and Petit
Larceny. His involvement in the death of the victim remains under
investigation.

Valcarel was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court Thursday and
remanded to the Albany County Jail.
