Police: Man arrested for one robbery in Amsterdam

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. – Amsterdam Police say they have arrested a man for one of the two recent robberies in the city. 

According to authorities, Daniel Pabon, 29, has been
arrested for Robbery in the 3rd Degree and Assault in the 3rd
Degree.

Pabon is accused of robbing the Upstate Electronics on
Market Street on December 3rd and assaulting the male employee in
the store.

On Tuesday around 6 p.m. police received a robbery report at
Upstate Electronics. The employee told police that a male entered the store
demanding money while holding a knife. The employee gave the suspect the money
and suffered a laceration to his hand.

The victim was taken to St. Mary's Hospital to be treated
for his hand injury.

A search warrant executed in Pabon's home revealed a number
of pieces of evidence relating to the robbery, which led to his arrest.

Amsterdam Police are still investigating another robbery. On December 2nd around
7:15 p.m. police received a report of a robbery at the Suman Convenient Store
in Riverfront Center. The clerk told police that a male entered the store,
demanding money from the register and Newport cigarettes. The suspect allegedly
displayed what may have been a handgun in his waistband.
