UAlbany and Siena vying for the Albany Cup on Friday night

ALBANY, N.Y. – Friday night is the Albany Cup at the Times Union Center where Siena College's and University at Albany's women's and men's basketball teams will be facing off.

The Great Dane's men's team will be having a season opener for the third time under head coach, Will Brown.  Last season the team had a 69-56 win and they are hoping to take back the Albany Cup.

The Siena Saint's head coach, Jimmy Patsos, will be leading his team into the Albany Cup for the first time since he took the position.  According to the Siena Saint's website, Patsos has been looking forward to this game and hopes his team will gain bragging rights.

The UAlbany women's team will also be vying for the Albany Cup against the Siena Saint's on Friday.  The Great Dane's have won the past three Albany Cup games and for the last two years, won the America East.

Women's basketball will begin at 5 p.m. and the men will take over at 7 p.m. at the Times Union Center on Friday.
