Rollover accident in Kingsbury sends female to hospital; alcohol and speed may be factors

KINGSBURY, N.Y. – The Washington County Sheriff's Office has confirmed there was a single rollover accident on Route 196 Friday night.

According to authorities, they responded to a call around 9 p.m. of the rollover accident.  They say a 2004 BMW was speeding while heading eastbound toward the Hamlet of Adamsville.

Witnesses told authorities that the driver of the BMW was crossing the center line. As the vehicle was weaving into the left side of the road, it hit an embankment, causing the vehicle to become airborne before overturning and resting, facing the opposite direction.

The Sheriff's Office says a female passenger was partially ejected and suffered severe injuries. She was airlifted to Albany Medical Center to be treated for serious injuries.

Another passenger, Sean Hale, suffered minor injuries and was brought to Glens Falls Hospital for an evaluation.

Twenty-year-old Steven Sharp was allegedly driving the BMW. He was taken to Glen Falls Hospital to be evaluated as well.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office believes both alcohol and speed are factors in the crash.  An investigation is ongoing.
