Man who fatally fell at Thacher Park, ID’d

VOORHEESVILLE, N.Y. – Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple has confirmed to NEWS10 ABC the identity of the man who died, possibly while rock climbing at Thacher State Park.

According to authorities, Ronald Czajkowski, 44, was found dead in a rock climbing harness early Friday morning.  They believe that Czajkowski was only a beginner climber and he may have tied a knot into his rope incorrectly.

Rock climbing is not permitted in the park.

Calls for the fatal fall came in just before 8 a.m. Friday. The Rensselaer man was found dead on the Indian Ladder Trail.
