WATERVLIET, N.Y. – The City of Watervliet is hosting an electronic recycling day today at the City of Watervliet Department of Public Works garage.
The event is a partnership with JGS Recycling & Hauling, which specializes in electronic waste recycling, to help community members recycle their electronic waste safely and properly.
Any electronics may be disposed of, including televisions, computers and cell phones. Electronic waste is free to recycle. Tires and air conditioners cost $2 per item.
One of the important benefits to proper recycling of electronics is that electronic data is protected from others.
“Recycling electronic waste properly not only benefits the environment, but also secures the data left behind on your devices,” City of Watervliet Mayor Mike Manning said.
The event takes place from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The City of Watervliet Department of Public Works garage is located at the corner of Second Avenue and 13th Street behind the fire house.
