The Columbia Greene Humane Society/SPCA says they have received over 300 applications for people interested in the dogs seized from a home in Ghent and they will not accept any more.
A total of 47 dogs and puppies were removed from deplorable conditions Wednesday at the home of an alleged animal hoarder in the town of Ghent. Four birds and one cat were also found.
They say the adult dogs and puppies were found abandoned and left to die, covered with fleas and excrement.
Among the breeds found were Cairn Terriers, Chihuahuas, Brussels Griffons, and Dachshunds.
The animals were put up for adoption immediately and will begin going to their new homes Friday and Saturday after they are fully treated.
The Humane Society has removed the online application link from their website. If you wish to help, they are looking for food donations for the dogs.
