Thousands without power after Friday’s storm

ALBANY, N.Y. – More than 3,000 National Grid customers across the region remained without electricity Saturday morning after a line of storms hit area Friday night.

Nearly 2,500 residents in Saratoga County and more than 1,000 in Fulton County were without power of 7:30 a.m., while another 788 in Washington County were out as well.

Other counties in the region affected this morning: Albany, Fulton, Herkimer, Montgomery, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren and Washington.

The National Grid website estimated that Saratoga and Fulton county residents will have power fully restored by 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

More strong storms are expected to blanket parts of the region Saturday afternoon as a cold front pushes into the hot, humid haze that has persisted this past week. Cooler temperatures and decreased humidity are expected to provide relief going into next week.
