SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – New York Racing Association President and CEO Christopher Kay spoke to the media for the first time on Wednesday.
With less than a day until Opening Day at Saratoga Race Track, Kay says his goals this year are to create a better guest experience for people coming to the track and improve the quality of racing at all three NYRA tracks. He also says he would like to return NYRA to the private sector following its takeover by the state.
Despite the high temperatures forecasted for Friday, Kay says he has no plans to cancel racing for Opening Day. He says they are prepared to handle the heat, expected to hit the mid-90s.
Kay took over NYRA on July 1st.
