TROY, N.Y. – Visitors at this year's sixth Troy Pig Out will be getting a double-barrel dose of pork, as the BBQ festival and competition joins with BaconFest for a major pork weekend.

The event, which takes place in the Riverfront Park in Downtown Troy from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 13 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday July 14, is expected to bring thousands of food enthusiasts to the Capital Region.

“The Pig Out has something for everyone, whether it's a variety of tasty and unique food options, great live music or plenty of goods to browse and enjoy on a summer's day” said Troy's Mayor Lou Rosamilia.  “The Pig Out is family friendly and a great way to get out and try something new. We are happy to continue to have events like this one, right here in Troy.”

Thirty-three teams will be competing from across the Northeast and Canada, for the grand prize of ‘Victor,' a life size golden pig, along with $4,000 in cash.

BBQ vendors will also offer up a host of different BBQ selections, offering a sample item between $1 and $5.

“We will be celebrating everything meat in Downtown Troy this weekend” said Elizabeth Young, Director of the Downtown Troy Business Improvement District, and the event organizer, “Not only will you be able to find every kind of BBQ, but some crazy things made with bacon too – like bacon cotton candy, deep fried bacon, and bacon cupcakes.”

Along with the BBQ offerings, the event includes live music and a fireworks display over the Hudson River on Saturday night.
