Paddler aims for speed record on Lake George

LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (AP) – Clean water advocate and distance paddler Margo Pellegrino will try to set a speed record paddling the length of 32-mile-long Lake George as part of weekend events sponsored by the American Canoe Association.
The 45-year-old mother of two from Medford, N.J., will paddle her canoe from Moss Point at the north end of Lake George and head south to Shepard Park. It's part of Saturday's 4th annual Love the Lake Paddle.
The weekend events start Friday afternoon when more than a dozen paddlers will set out from Moss Point to paddle the length of the lake. There will be canoe, kayak and stand-up demos Saturday at Lake George Village.
The American Canoe Association, now based in Virginia, started 130 years ago in Lake George.
