RENSSELAER COUNTY, NY – The New York State Police conducted an Underage Drinking Initiative in Rensselaer County this weekend. Five bars, convenience, and liquor stores were checked throughout the county. As part of the investigation, an undercover underage volunteer was sent into each establishment in an attempt to have the clerk/bartender sell/serve the minor alcohol.

Four arrests for serving a minor were made during the initiative:

CumberlandFarms – ST – 22/43 Stephentown
Jana Nelson, 20, of Stephentown

The Beer Diviner – ST – 22/43 Stephentown
Johnathan Post, 55, of Cherry Plain

Bridgeway Bar and Restaurant – 17 Cherry Plain Square
Victoria Sikorski, 21, of East Nassau

Backwater Grill – ST-20 Nassau
Sara Cramer, 29, of East Nassau

Businesses where a violation takes place are referred to the New York State Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control. The clerk/bartenders were arrested for one count of Unlawfully Dealing with a Child, a class A Misdemeanor.

Alcohol consumption by underage consumers has a profound effect on our communities. Teen alcohol consumption is related to traffic accidents, fatalities and crime. The New York State Police would like to thank Rensselaer County businesses for their support in preventing underage drinking.
